G.D. Vajra Barbera D'Alba is a single-variety red wine made by G.D. Vajra with the Barbera variety in the DOC Barbera d'Alba Italian denomination in Piedmont.
A family winery founded in 1972 and located in the western part of the commune of Barolo, in the town of Vergne. Their 40 hectares of vineyards are located in the highest part of Piedmont. These vines lie 400 metres above sea level and give the wines a very particular freshness and acidity. Aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for 18 to 28 months.
The 2018 Barbera D’Alba has a bright purple color. The nose is vibrant and combines vivid red and black fruits with sweet spices and aromatic herbs like oregano and thyme. Hint of anise and graphite just add complexity to the wine. Palate is succulent and incredibly layered, yet bright with elegant acidity, strawberries, cherries and mineral lifted finish and a touch of white pepper.
Enjoy with NoNa stuffed pastas, polpette or with beef and game.
